Leadership on Purpose, Part 1: The Basics Live Online Meeting

On September 15, 2004 at Noon Pacific join the American Society of Quality for this packed online meeting and training session.

In this fun and interactive session, we begin our journey of leadership self-discovery by learning about our inner landscapes. Using the latest neuro-linguistic program (NLP) techniques and methods, you will understand how your cognitive map of the world defines your inner landscape, which in turn governs how you interact with your world and the people in it.

You learn about the structure of your map and how it both helps and limits your performance. You will also be introduced to a model of leadership based on being and doing, and look at your operating metaphor for leadership.

You are guided to define your own metaphor and understand how it directly affects your leadership performance. You will identify the primary determinants of your leadership path, and become aware of what skills you need to build in order to be a more effective leader. All attendees will be directed to a leadership self-assessment form and encouraged to use it to set a baseline for measuring the expansion of their leadership skills.

After the presentation, you will:

1. Understand the difference between the “being” and the “doing” of leadership
2. Understand how you structure your experience of reality
3. Understand how “maps” determine leadership effectiveness
4. Define your personal leadership metaphor
5. Understand how context influences your effectiveness as a leader
