Latest B-RAS Developments - Live Online Meeting
Listen as Agere, Cisco, CoSine Communications & Net.com on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time as they dig into the Broadband Remote Access Server (B-RAS) market.
This market continues to ramp up driven by RFPs from SBC and other carriers and by an increased level of interest in Asia.
This live online meeting assesses the hot market and looks at the technological developments following the DSL Forum’s landmark reports, which have spelled out equipment requirements and network architectures for delivering QOS-enabled IP services over DSL infrastructure.
While the Forum’s Technical Report 59 appears to have been well received, more detailed B-RAS requirements are still being worked out in Working Text 92 – The B-RAS Specification.
Questions that must be addressed include:
- Will the challenging scaling requirements still be in?
- Will the further ATM developments remain?
- Will Firewalls and VPLS still be “preferred” rather than mandatory?
- Are vendors implementing these features?
The live online meeting will take an in-depth tour of B-RAS developments, paying particular attention to the following issues:
- The different B-RAS technologies required in WT 92
- The continuing debate over centralized versus distributed B-RAS
- Progress of IP DSLAMs in integrating B-RAS capability
- Scaling issues with metro B-RAS and collocated B-RAS
- The role of the B-RAS in providing security services
