POMPANO BEACH, Fla.- Elluminate, Inc., a provider of live eLearning and Web conferencing solutions for the real-time organization, announced today the North American Council for Online Learning (NACOL) hosted their first professional development webinar using Elluminate Live!, an eLearning and Web conferencing solution for the real-time organization. Education professionals located in 22 states and two provinces in Canada joined the online session to participate in a discussion with the Office of Educational Technology for the U.S. Department of Education that focused on the recently released National Educational Technology Plan."Elluminate, one of NACOL's first member organizations, provided outstanding comprehensive Web conferencing and collaboration for our professional development symposium discussing the National Education Technology Plan," said Tim Stroud, president and CEO of the North American Council for Online Learning.
On January 7, 2005, the US Department of Education announced its National Education Technology Plan (NETP) plan for transforming education in the United States of America. NETP is designed to help states and school districts adopt creative new teaching models as they are emerging that embrace technology to redesign curricula and organizational structures.
During NACOL's first professional development webinar, Susan D. Patrick, director of education technology for the U.S. Department of Education said, "Our schools need to be ready for the future and require learning environments that engage this generation as well as equip them with the skills and knowledge they will need to be competitive and successful in a global, information-based economy. We recognize that some of the most promising new educational approaches are being developed outside the traditional education system, through eLearning and virtual schools. One of our goals is to enable every teacher to participate in eLearning training and provide every student with access to eLearning."
Schools are seeing rapid growth in eLearning, distance learning, Web conferencing and online collaboration. Industry analyst firm Collaborative Strategies forecasts the virtual classroom market to be $1.17 billion by 2005 and Frost and Sullivan projects the Web conferencing market to grow to over $2.5 billion by 2009.
