Austin, TX – VCON, a provider of audio and videoconferencing solutions, announced new versions of its HD5000 and HD4000 high-performance workgroup videoconferencing solutions.VCON's HD5000, a high-performance, versatile multimedia conferencing system, and the HD4000, the only software-based group videoconferencing solution on the market, now move to version 3.5. New features include 20Khz audio (AAC-LC) and G.722.1 audio; H.239 support for simultaneous streaming of video and data; and H.350 support, which provides uniformity and easier access to endpoints and end users in a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) environment .
The HD5000 and HD4000 also offer H.263+/++ video standard including XGA resolution, H.264 up to 4Mbps, and Interlaced CIF resolution for full-motion video (up to 60 fields per second). Additionally, VCON's HD5000 features H.235 security for encrypted conferences over an IP network . Additionally, the HD5000 and HD4000 now include Packet Loss Recovery, a new feature of VCON PacketAssist™ architecture.

The HD5000 has an embedded web server for remote management of the conference, and allows users to control and monitor their conferences on an ad-hoc basis. The HD5000 has unique data sharing capabilities, both during a videoconference, and while offline. Built on a high-performance multimedia PC, the HD5000 can share data with a remote site using a simple, intuitive interface. Attaching a VCR/DVD to the HD5000 allows users to access and play videos or music during a live videoconference with mixed audio for recording or training purposes.
With the HD4000, VCON authorized partners and end user customers have flexibility in configuring a videoconferencing solution using their own system platform and peripherals. Additionally, once integrated into a high-performance, multimedia PC, customers can use their HD4000 system in numerous ways: access the Internet, display presentations and documents during meetings, play movies and videos clips, and participate in Web data conferences.
Version 3.5 for the HD5000 and HD4000 will be available in Q1 2005.
