Siemens Communications has won the Gold Award for the Staff Development Programme of the Year after being recognised by the Institute of IT Training as ‘an enterprise that had implemented a proactive staff development programme for its employees that had made a significant and measurable contribution to the organisation’s business objectives.’Siemens Communications submitted its entry in conjunction with elearning provider, SkillSoft. It is the third year running that a SkillSoft customer has won a Gold Award using a portfolio of SkillSoft products.
The judges were impressed by Siemens Communications’s comprehensive new staff training and development model, which includes training and development roadmaps for each individual in the organisation. To deliver against each roadmap, Siemens Communications adopts an integrated elearning approach which incorporates a high number of SkillSoft courses, job aids, skills briefs, skill simulations and Books24x7 referenceware as well as live and blended online training and self-study activities.
In a summary of the reasons why Siemens Communications achieved the Gold Award the Institute said:
“Skills at Siemens were developed using the Siemens Virtual Training School – which was considerably extended to meet the training and development needs of their staff. Over 500 courses were added, and the new portfolio included situational simulations, web-based delivery and Books24x7 referenceware. Strong metrics were demonstrated that clearly indicate the business benefit being achieved.
“From high level innovation to detailed implementation, this was an outstanding entry and well worthy of the Gold Award.” |
