Chicago, IL - InterCall, one of the largest service providers in the world specializing in web and conference calling communications, announced the release of two new features on its Reservationless-Plus audio conferencing service: Sub-Conferencing and Waiting Room. These two features bring even more flexibility and convenience to the already easy-to- use, on-demand conference calling service. Sub-Conferencing allows a Reservationless-Plus call to be broken into as many as nine different conversations by pressing a few simple touch-tone commands on the telephone handset or by accessing controls available via InterCall's Reservationless-Plus web moderator. This feature is ideal for contract negotiations, committee meetings and legal conference calling applications. It can be a convenient way to deal with the discussion of multiple topics within the context of a single conference call.
The Reservationless-Plus Waiting Room brings an added layer of security to conference calling as well. Call Leaders now have access to a virtual room in which they can place call attendees until they are ready to begin the conference calling. This feature is useful when a previous call runs long or when participants for the next call arrive earlier than planned. The Waiting Room keeps the two audiences separated. Additionally, those arriving late for a conference can be directed to the Waiting Room where their presence is made known to the call's Leader via a "whisper" announcement.
"These two features were developed, tested and implemented on InterCall's proprietary conference calling platform," said InterCall(R) Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Business Development Robert Wise. "This platform gives us the ability to offer features that are beneficial to our customers without having to rely on our bridge vendors' development cycles and roadmaps. Having this ability makes our Reservationless-Plus service more flexible while offering customization options, thus making it much less of a commodity."
InterCall's proprietary IP-based audio conferencing and conference calling platform carries more than 40 million minutes of on-demand Reservationless-Plus calls each month with targets to more than double that figure by the end of 2005. In addition to Reservationless-Plus, the conference calling platform supports InterCall's Reservationless-Express audio conferencing service. These conference calling applications are executed using West Corporation's 140,000-port Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. The availability of these ports, combined with the ability to deploy enhanced reservationless conference calling features and functionalities in a timely fashion, provides InterCall a differentiated and competitive advantage in the audio conferencing and conference calling marketplace. As new features and options are added, including Voice over IP (VoIP) offerings and strategic partner points of integration, it is expected that the number of minutes running across this platform will continue to increase.
"The ability to better leverage our parent company's existing call processing platform was one of the key benefits of adding InterCall to the West organization," said Scott Etzler, President of InterCall. "The successful release of features like these proves that the plan is working."
