EduForge Becomes Center Of Open Source eLearning Tools

Little by little, the elearning and online training market is quickly embracing open source tools thanks to many individual projects such as Moodle and during 2005, by the centralization of open source projects at websites such as EduForge (http://eduforge.org/) and others.

With Learning Management Systems and Learning Content Management Systems proprietary tools starting at $5,000 per seat and higher, many companies and their training departments are testing open source tools in an effort to curb costs and have the cost-free benefit of owning their own source code.

The movement has taken huge leaps in 2005. Trainerslink believes that 2005 will mark the "year of open source elearning" in this critical market.

With the costs of training employees skyrocketing, static and dynamically fast changing policies, technical training and process methodologies can now be taught without expensive travel or hotel costs from far reaching remote corporate locations or even an employee's home.

Trainerslink projects that EduForge and other similar websites will become to the elearning and online training industry what SourceForge and Freshmeat have become to the general systems and productivity software business - THE place to go to find the software that you need.

In 2006 and beyond, traditional LCMS and LMS vendors will be forced to reduce licensing fees, be more flexible in contract negotiations and improve speed and performance, as well as ease of use of their tools for authors, content and courseware developers as well as end user training consumers.

Keep your eyes here at Trainerslink and we'll be sure to keep you up to speed on the latest developments in both commercial and Open Source elearning and online training software and systems.
