From the UK, shortlisted entrants included 'Celebrating language' from the East of England region. The website focuses on the fascinating variety of people and the fact that their origins can be traced to most parts of the world. Some come to study or work. Others were born here after parents or grandparents from other countries made England their home.

In many families, English is not the only language which is used, and there are many children who are bi-lingual or for whom English is not the first language they learned.

Cambridgeshire County Council developed the project, designed for broadband and uses online multimedia technology to bring together the breadth of the written and spoken forms of languages within the East of England. It also hopes to raise awareness of the diversity of peoples within our region and within society as a whole; and to encourage the development of and interest in language by pupils.

Short digital videoclips show the children speaking their family language. A text version of their words is displayed, along with information about the language being used.
