Birmingham University Announces Use of WiredRed E/Pop Web-Conferencing Software. E/pop software enables tutors and pupils to effectively interact - sharing applications and data regardless of their location. The eLearning department at Birmingham University was looking for an easy to use and install, web-conferencing solution that would enable the lecturers and students to share applications and data using their existing PCs. It discovered WiredRed's e/pop web-conferencing software and decided to utilize a nine-month pilot scheme to decide whether the software was accessible enough and could meet the University's needs.
WiredRed's e/pop software enables new users to conduct online meetings and lectures via means of web-conferencing. From individual PCs, users of e/pop can utilize built-in VoIP to communicate and simultaneously share video, applications, documents and web-browsers in real time.
"We found that e/pop enables us to introduce a wide range of facilities into the online learning environment including web-conferencing, application sharing and chat - all vital in supporting the contemporary ways in which teachers teach and learners learn," explained Head of eLearning at Birmingham University, Stephen Clarke.
e/pop has saved the University substantial costs in installation, training and call costs that it would have spent with other systems available on the market. By installing e/pop real-time web conferencing and communication software, Birmingham University has avoided the need to deploy more expensive and less flexible hardware solutions. |
