Embarcadero Technologies, Inc., today announced it will roll-out "Best Practices for Database Security: Implementing the Missing Piece," a webinar series designed to help bridge the gap between information security and data professionals.
Building on its commitment to provide information and guidelines enterprises need to ensure the privacy of their data, the 3-part webinar will take place on three consecutive Thursdays, beginning May 25, from 8:00 AM Pacific Time to 9:00 AM Pacific Time. The series will cover the following topics:
-- May 25: Part I - A Manager's Guide to Database Security
-- June 1: Part II - Translating Auditing Requirements into Database Reality
-- June 8: Part III - Leveraging Metadata for Information Classification
It is estimated that over 53 million Americans had their personal information exposed from February 2005 to February 2006 due to company breaches at an average cost of $14 million per breach.
Corporate Data that is not continuously monitored puts businesses at risk of noncompliance, fraud, failed audits, diminished reputation, and lost customers. Because an enterprise's data is a valuable asset, it represents a significant source of risk.
"The need for data and database security may seem obvious, but there are many difficulties to overcome in finding appropriate safeguards. Information security professionals may not have experience with the intricacies of databases and the differences between the various platforms.
Database administrators may not have experience with the security and regulatory implications of their day-to-day activities," said Gregory Davoll, senior director, data security at Embarcadero Technologies. "By implementing sound database security procedures and solutions across the enterprise, companies can greatly reduce their risk from breaches --both internal and external."
The webinar series will be led by industry veteran Kimber Spradlin, CISA, CISSP, CPA, who joined the company in March. For additional information about the webinars, including how to register, please visit: http://www.embarcadero.com/news/events.html.
Two whitepapers entitled "Database Security Best Practices: A Management Guide" and "Database Security Best Practices: Implementing the Missing Piece" will also be available at www.embarcadero.com. |
