The North Carolina Distance Learning Association (NCDLA) presented the 2006 awards at the association’s annual meeting held this year in Asheville.
The awards, presented annually, recognize major accomplishments in distance learning by one individual and one organization. UNC General Administration's Associate Vice President for Academic Planning, Dr. James C. Sadler, was presented the individual award for his work as a dedicated leader and advocate for distance education initiatives.
The Distance Learning Forum inaugurated by Dr. Sadler along with frequent presentations and teleconference sessions led by him keep educators apprised of North Carolina legislation, economic trends, and changing demographics to formulate timely and appropriate responses to meet the expanding educational needs of diverse constituencies.
The NCDLA award for an organization was presented to the Business & Education Technology Alliance (BETA). BETA, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Beverly Perdue, was recognized for its work to create access for distance learning opportunities for all North Carolina’s citizens.
The North Carolina Distance Learning Association commends the work of the BETA members (local and state policy makers, educators, and business leaders) to leverage network resources to deliver educational technology and service applications statewide. |
